So, before reading her novels which were released from 1811 to 1817, in the following order :  Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma,  Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, I decided to go back to her teenage years, reading Love and Friendships, and other early works.

Marlon Brando plays a US major reassigned to Kobe, falls in love with a Japanese performer and has to reevaluate his deeply rooted opposition to such a love and marriage between US soldiers and local women.

This movie explores racist prejudice and personal growth through the most powerful emotion that is love. 
Ricardo Montalban (original Star Trek's Khan) appears in this movie, but in a smaller role.

Beautiful cinematography and acting (don't watch the trailer, it gives too much!), the only things I don't like in this movie are the music (not my preferred style) and the fur (normal back then, but it's not present the entire movie so that's good)
