This is only an ok movie, I can’t get why its imdb medium rating is 8/10, as it’s only Jane Eyre on a diet, stripped from the core feminist aspect, and lacks any emotional impact, in spite of good acting, but which was a bit too clinical.

I didn’t like the casting either, not that the main actor’s aren’t good, they would be elsewhere, but they don’t correspond to Brontë’s descriptions… for instance, Jane is too pretty, Rochester isn’t as taciturn as he’s supposed to be and St James far too young… as you can see in these images

The good aspects : the score & cinematography are pretty.
Too bad, because there was a lot of potential here, which I feel is wasted.
Final score 4/10 – watch only if you want to compare to other adaptations of the story.

Starring: Mia Wasikowska, Michael Fassbender, Jamie Bell, Holliday Grainger, Sally Hawkins, Tamzin Merchant, Imogen Poots, Judi Dench
