So, before reading her novels which were released from 1811 to 1817, in the following order :  Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma,  Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, I decided to go back to her teenage years, reading Love and Friendships, and other early works.

Tonight there were 2 Hitchcock movies on the plate... the first got dumped into the bored trash : A lady vanishes, released in 1938-39 dates from Hitch' British period, from which I seem to dislike many films...

Perhaps the pompous englishmen at the center of a not so funny comedy didn't help to raise the bar from the poor dialogues, poor acting and delivery from the rest of the cast...

There were just too many characters and all of them were quite unsympathetic. Unwilling to root for anybody ; tired of uneventul and loud bashing through the first 20 mintues which consitute a good % from its total 90, I pulled the plug and banished the dvd back to its case.

Tomorrow, I shall review tonight's winner...

During my better halve's abscence, I took several movies dvds from the media library. It looks like I'll have to return them quite fast now that  3 out of 6 have been either watched and loved (two of them) and interrupte (this present one : a lady vanishes, in case I wasn't clear enough).

My wife was right about this movie ; it just sucked... and I wasn't in the forgiving mood.
