Before you jump in surprise, let me tell you that no, when I first watched part of this show, I had no idea its main star was a crazy man... I'm writting this entry because today I sold the first season I had bought several years ago and which took this long to get rid of it ; I had managed to get rid of the second season back last December, and now that this first one is going away, a circle is complete, and my divorce from this show is now fully pronounced by the court.. Alright, here goes: those of you who don't know, need to : when I first heard of this show, I naturally did a little research and found out that Chuck Norris had created schools for kids, to go into martial arts instead of falling into drugs and street violence...
Little did I know that he was also an NRA spokeperson, a very avid one at that, and an extremist christian, the kind who spots his filthy beliefs everywhere he can, including online, and boy, his words are scary... The fact people follow him and think the same way is actually even scarrier, and one can wonder what else he'd like to change in society to fit his crazy worldview...
The show itself is campy, but not cosy : Walker, is Chuck Norris, and he makes the law in Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, very logically in Texas. Had I only know if was a state full of NRA mentality, shoot first ask questions later, I would've never even started watching this moralistic piece of conservative thinking.
Besides, the few seasons I did watch, were only mildly entertainning and I found many stories to be quite unbelievable. It did have the partial benefit of sheding light on a state I knew nothing about back then.
I find a lot of misoginy, damsel in distress storylines and kitch in a bad sense show.
I hereby finalize my divorce from it.
