Thus far, I've watched Suspicion
on our French Collector DVD EAN 3346030013779, released in 2005 & proposing
the movie in
English & French, either in
mono 1.0 or in 5.1, all in Dolby Digital.
Image original black & white,
aspect ratio 1.33:1 (original was 1.37:1 it's close, I believe)
Subtitles: French
Transfer quality is decent but not great - I hope this has been fixed in the
BD.
Direct access to scenes and to the bonuses through the main menu.
Bonus material :
- Interview with Patricia
Hitchcock (Alfred's daughter, in English with French subtitles -
6 minutes)
- 2 interviews with Richard
Krohn Une Bovary Anglaise, analyses the movie (in French- 24
minutes),
- in the other he
analyses the ending - be warned, it probably spoils the novel, so
make sure to read it, and watch the movie, before watching this interview
(9 minutes in English)
The dvd is limited to zone 2,
house in a digipack case.
A few months ago, blurays have been released.
it seems the spanish all-region
edition has many issues, not the least some legal ones as well as bad quality
(from what I can gather reading on amazon.es).
Furthermore, thus far ALL
Hitchcock bluray I wanted to get appeared to have bad image transfers and sound
problems, especially in the dubbed Castilian.
I therefore suggest to stay away from this edition.
France, the UK, Germany and Italy - my other sources at times, don't have any
BD edition for this movie, yet.
However, lucky for all of us, the USA Warner Archive Collection released it,
region free!
Resolution Full 1080p HD, image
ratio 1.36:1 (very close to original 1.37:1)
Sound in DTS-HD mono 2.0 (which
tends to be very clear on other BD remasters) for English, French &
Spanish.
Subtitles English SDH, French, Spanish, Czech, Polish (Note:
Spanish=Latin & Castillian)
I have no information regarding
bonus material yet. I'll continue searching - unless I see a good price and
just get it because I do enjoy this movie quite a bit, even if no bonus is
offered, blu-ray.com announces superb image and sound quality.
To be continued!
