The velveteen rabbit is a toy offered to a boy on Christmas,  alongside other toys. The velveteen rabbit isn't just any kind of toy : it's a REAL one, in this bitter-sweet tale, focusing on the power of imagination and the premise that thoughts create reality.

Saying much more would be too much and spoil the effect for those who haven't read it before - and indeed, I had never heard of it as came to read upon my wife's recommendation.

20th book in my goodreads challenge this year, the velveteen rabbit helped reduce my delayed reading lately, as it's quite short and as a children's story, very simple and easy to read.
