Movie - Stargate

Movie – Stargate
Score : 9/10
Year : 1994
Director: Roland Emmerich

1928, Egypte : a ring is unearthed and analysed for decades. The secret ? it’s a door…. to other stars, by a system which ressembles a giant telephone : one must dial a code with symbols to open the tunnel leading to another world….

A military expedition is sent to determine and eliminate any danger… but everything gets complicated when the heros meet people oppressed by an alien Egyptian god with highly advanced and sophisticated technology….

I present: a phenomenon movie which derived into 4 tv shows : Stargate.

Main cast: Kurt Russel, James Spader (nerdy), Jaye Davidson (he's scary as hell as Ra), Erick Avari (he loves SciFi), Alexis Cruz (who will reprise his role in SG1) and directed by Roland Emmerich.

This movie is available in several dvd and bluray, theatrical and director’s cut editions…

A few days ago, we watched the extended edition on bluray : it's image transfer in full 1080p HD is stunnigly beautiful and we can see much more clearly the nuances in the lights and shadows of a beautiful cinematography.

The musical score actively engaged me, the viewer, to follow each character's adventure and enjoy the action.

Never boring, Stargate is a great science-fiction action movie I throughly enjoy, and have now watched a few times.
I read that it was initially planned to continue in 2 sequels, which were put on hold once the spinoff SG1 had been launched. Now that it's over, as well as 3 other spinoff shows, Emmerich has announced a new Stargate trilogy, like it had been intended, to be filmed from scratch and thus not alter this present movie. I wonder if this project shall be indeed made or if it'll remain in limbo...

To be continued...
