So, before reading her novels which were released from 1811 to 1817, in the following order :  Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma,  Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, I decided to go back to her teenage years, reading Love and Friendships, and other early works.

Enemy Mine - In the media

A poignant, powerful and dark movie : a human and an alien, stranded on a dangerous planet… from foes, they become friends.
The human will have a quest : to preserve a life, facing many dangers…

A strong role for Dennis Quaid, but even more so for Louis Gosset Jr as a very touching alien who should have won an award for his interpretation.
Beautifully directed by Wolfgang Petersen in 1985, this movie offers alien landscapes and creatures, an interesting and moving plot, with relatively innovative elements, making Enemy Mine a rather unique movie experience.
Costumes and dialogues are well made and the few special effects are rendered correctly.
Maurice Jarre doesn’t miss his composition, for once, giving us a beautiful music.
I simply loved Enemy Mine. Score 10/10.

Enemy Mine...influence

The unas, an alien race in Stargate SG1 is directly inspired from this movie. appearing in 5 episodes, the last of which is titled ''enemy mine'', thus not hidding this link.

Several Star Trek the next generation (= TNG) and Enterprise use similar ideas ; thus Paul Winfield in ''Darmok'' resembles Louis Gosst JR. He and Patrick Stewart are totally alien to one another and learn to cooperate in the face of adversity, but in a different manner than the one told in Enemy Mine.

We see this again in TNG ''the enemy'', but the alien, a Romulan, doesn't look at all akin to the reptilien appaerance of both ''Darmok'' and ''Enemy Mine'', but the stroy revolves once more around cooperation in the face of adversity, in spite of an initial animosity.
